Glan Cader is a two bedroom historic cottage in the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park. It is set at the foot of Cader Idris Mountain. It sleeps 4. Ideal for walkers. couples, friends and families alike. One can relax or be active. Young children are welcome. Dog friendly, suitable for 1 dog.

Step outside the white picket gate of its garden onto the Llanfihangel y Pennant path to Pen y Gader, the top of Cader Idris. Amble down the quiet country lane to Castell y Bere (Castle), walk along the Dysynni Valley to Birds Rock or visit the Mari Jones memorial beside the river Cader next to the cottage. Take advantage of the many footpaths from the cottage door. Explore further afield without having to take the car . Situated on a ‘no through road’ beside a mesmerising river, days can be spent taking in the views and appreciating nature in abundance. It is set in a very rural location next to a farm. Views are spectacular from the garden spreading along the Dysynni Valley, up to Castell y Bere and as far as Birds Rock. From a footpath behind the cottage, on a clear day you can catch a glimpse of the coast.

Once a major farmhouse of the hamlet, now sub divided into two dwellings, Glan Cader is a Grade II Listed building dating back to the 16th Century with sub medieval origins such as the cruck beams which are still visible, indicating that a dwelling would have been there centuries before.

On the ground floor there is a spacious living room with an amazing inglenook fireplace with exposed stone and a log burner ideal for cosy nights in. A basket of logs is available. Ancient cruck and ceiling beams could tell a story or two of days gone by. A rustic table for dining and mid century sofa and chairs to sit on and unwind. Plenty of books and magazines, games and Smart television. There is a television signal but you can stream programmes or log in to your own streaming service. Wi fi is available but can be intermittent due to the rural location. It is advisable if you intend to download films to do so before arriving. The living room has the advantage of under floor heating if needed.

The galley kitchen with a pantry is very well equipped and offers an electric oven and hob, a fridge freezer, a microwave, toaster, an electric and hob kettle, a sandwich maker, stove top Mokka coffee pot and tea pot. There is a large selection of utensils and crockery. A high chair is available. Washing up liquid, hand soap, kitchen top cleaner and kitchen paper is provided. There are tea towels and hand towels, bin bags and food waste bags, foil, greaseproof paper and clingfilm supplied. At present there is no washing machine but washing powder/liquid is supplied should you wish to handwash items and a drying rack to hang your clothes. An ironing board and iron is housed in the larder. The kitchen has a mini smart speaker. A simple Welcome Pack of a Welsh treat, milk, tea and coffee and Welsh ‘Ty Nant’ water welcomes you.

The hall has a bench for booting and de booting with a cupboard for storing boots, coats and rucksacks with a beautiful antique coffer displaying information leaflets of things to do. A landline is available to use for emergencies but Wi-Fi calling should be accessible on your phone operating systems.

The main bedroom boasts original features, housing a double bed and single. It can be used as a double, a twin or family room. Deep windows and a wooden floor with rugs. A chest of drawers for clothing and hangers for hanging clothes. It is furnished with Welsh woollen blankets with crisp white sheets.

The twin bedroom has two single beds also with Welsh print blankets, a wooden floor, a chest of drawers and cupboard for clothing.

All beds have Tempur Memory Foam mattresses. Bedlinen is provided. Pillows and Duvets are Non Feather due to possible guest allergies. A Travel cot is provided but cot bedding is not supplied.

A small bathroom has a compact shower with storage for toiletries and a toilet. Hand wash and body wash are provided with hand towel and bath mat.

Towels are provided for each guest. No beach towels are provided and house towels are not to be taken away from the cottage. A hairdryer is provided.

Outside there is an enclosed garden. This garden is open with next door but each having their own area. Next door is owned by us too and if it is not occupied the whole are can be accessed. It has a seating area. The property can be accessed through a side gate exclusively or through the white picket gate which is shared.

There is ample parking in a small area opposite the cottage or alongside the cottage on the farmers land where we have consent to park.
